To end the week with a bang, we’re giving you the second in our series of WriteWorldwide reader interviews. This time we talk to Carrie, who niches in health, business, and tech writing. Carrie, take it away!

1) Please introduce yourself to the WriteWorldwide readers.

Hi all! Thanks to the WriteWorldwide team for giving me this opportunity.

My name is Carrie, and I’m a professional freelance writer. I write blog posts, articles, product reviews and landing pages for both small and large businesses.

I have a deep passion for writing. I love helping businesses grow by writing engaging and helpful content that turns subscribers into paying customers.

2) Why did you choose to be a writer, and have you experienced much success yet?

After my maternity leave, I wanted to find something that could allow me to look after my little one, and still be able to pay my bills.

I did a lot of research through the internet, and discovered that I could earn working from the comfort of my home through writing. That’s when I made the decision to quit my banking job in 2012. I’ve never looked back!

Previously, I’ve been a ghostwriter for content mills and writing agencies whereby all my work was under someone else’s name.

However, things are starting to look up and I recently launched my website.

Businesses are starting to find me on the web, and want to know more about my writing services.

3) As an ESL writer, have you faced any challenges?

In all honesty, it hasn’t been easy because a lot of businesses will choose a native English writer over an ESL writer.

I’ve learned that the only way to succeed is to deliver outstanding work and let it speak for itself!

4) What’s one thing about you most people don’t know?

I love helping people. I will never let an opportunity to help someone pass me by.

5) What would you like to see more of on the WriteWorldwide blog?

Wow! The WriteWorldwide blog has been very helpful to me. I think that the posts and newsletters are very insightful to ESL writers.

I can’t find a single thing about the site that is unsatisfactory. Keep up the good work Write Worldwide!

6) Are you connected with others ESL writers, and is that helping to boost your confidence?

Yes. One such great writer is Walter Akolo. Walter is selfless, and level headed. Despite not knowing me personally, he always responds to my questions  with a comprehensive answer.

Walter made me realize that cold pitching is doable, and that I can get direct clients instead of working for content mills.

His posts are always insightful and encouraging. He wants everyone to be as successful as he is.

7. What’s your favourite aspect of being an ESL writer?

Being an ESL writer is proof that it can be done. Writing and geographical locations do not always go hand in hand.

I love challenges and convincing the world that an ESL writer can be just as good as a native writer is a challenge in itself.

8) What’s your daily writing routine?

I’m a morning person. I wake up at 4 am and work till 2 pm Monday through Friday.

I like to take 10 minute breaks every two hours to recharge.

9) What methods do you use to keep your writing skills sharp?

I spend around one hour everyday scouring the web looking for ways to improve my writing skills.

I also like to read success stories from different ESL writers that prove that anyone can make it in the industry if only they focus and work hard.

10) What are your plans for growing your writing business and client base in the future?

I plan to incorporate social media into my business. Social media is an amazing marketing tool that will allow me to reach a wider audience.
